Lotus Development Corporation
Lotus Development Corporation, headquartered in Cambridge, MA, is a subsidiary of IBM. The company initially achieved its outstanding success by introducing Lotus 1-2-3, the first spreadsheet for the IBM PC. Over the years, it developed a variety of applications and helped set industry standards. In 1989, it introduced Lotus Notes, the first major groupware product, which continues to define the standards for groupware collaboration. Lotus was acquired by IBM in 1995.
Lotus is a major distributor of Mentor for Notes R5, and Mentor CLS has also developed programs for Lotus's popular SameTime, QuickPlace and Teamroom applications. Many custom Mentor projects have been developed to help companies deploy their proprietary Notes/Domino-based applications.
