Mentor™ Unveils "Just-in-Time" Multimedia Learning for Internet Explorer

Instant Verbal and Visual Cues Spur Enterprise-Wide Mastery of the Web to Boost Corporate Productivity.

Norwalk, CT, May 10, 1999—Companies launching intranet applications or expanding e-business can now assign a virtual coach to every employee, customer and supplier to help them quickly master Microsoft's Internet Explorer to advance business more quickly.

Mentor™ for Internet Explorer is a new performance-enhancing, just-in-time, multimedia Communications, Learning and Support system (CLS) introduced by VSI Communications Group.

"Ironically, companies devote major resources to building Web-based environments, only to spend little if any time on helping employees to become more productive, power users of the Web," said VSI president and CEO Dan Gallo.

"The key is to give them an easy way to instantly improve their ability to manage and master the Web," Mr. Gallo asserted. "That's critical to using the Web's enabling capabilities to increase employee productivity."

Offering sight-and-sound demos for over 75 topics, Mentor talks and walks browser users through a variety of tasks, providing whatever they need to become proficient with Internet Explorer.

Despite Mentor's rich content of graphics, video, audio, text and animation, there is no waiting for downloads. Advanced compression techniques stream Mentor tutorials to users in real time via connections as low as 28.8 Kbps. They get exactly what they need, when they need it, whether from the Web, intranet, or local hard drive.

Mentor™ for Internet Explorer differs from traditional computer-based training. Instead of the linear, course-like environment of CBT, with its simulations and testing, Mentor demonstrates to users just what they need at that moment—whether they want a reminder of how to do something or need coaching on a task they are trying for the first time.

The system uses no curriculum, but provides just-in-time help, ready to answer any question as users work. Mentor serves, in effect, as the users' memory.

Mentor™ for Internet Explorer is available for $14.30 per seat; corporate volume discounts are available. In addition, custom versions of Mentor can be created for every kind of e-commerce application.
