AOL Chooses Mentor™
for AOL® Communicator

Leading Internet service launches breakthrough in user Communication, Learning, and Support

Norwalk, Connecticut, USA, November 23, 2003 — With its latest email and mail management offering, AOL® Communicator, the Internet giant is launching an exciting new way to make users successful without training. With just-in-time multimedia tutorials from Mentor Media Group, Inc., AOL® Communicator users can grasp its capabilities in minutes, then get multimedia demonstrations of the most common functions and setup tasks, whenever and wherever they want to do them.

An option on the Help menu takes the user to a list of links to the Mentor units (called JITs for Just-in-Time). A single click invokes the JIT, which gives the multimedia demonstration. The script also displays at the bottom of the window for users without sound devices or with hearing disabilities.

Mentor Media Group's first deliverable to AOL, this Mentor™ for AOL® Communicator is also a proof of concept for just-in-time, multimedia user assistance in other parts of AOL's service.

Initial reactions have been very positive according to Jennifer Mulcaster, AOL® Communicator Product Marketing Manager. "We wanted a better way to educate our members about this brand new product, and in Mentor, we've definitely found it."

"With Mentor, AOL can accelerate user adoption, increase user satisfaction, and reduce Help Desk calls," said Dan Gallo, Mentor Media Group CEO. "We know this from experience with our business customers. They've cut support costs 25-40%. Employees strongly prefer Mentor's instant assistance to calling the Help Desk or bothering a colleague, and studies with other consumer services have been very positive."

AOL also believes Mentor can improve member satisfaction. "We want AOL members to have the best possible experience with new AOL technology," said Ms. Mulcaster. "Giving them immediate, easily understood demonstrations of functions and answers to questions is essential, and the Mentor tutorials take us a long way in that direction." About Mentor

A Mentor gives people the three things they need to master new software: Communication, Learning, and Support. First, Mentor lets them know what's coming, how it will help them, the big picture of how it works, and an overview of its functions. Next, it gives them what they need to get started. Then, as they apply the new software in their work, Mentor is always there to help them, when they get stuck or need to do a new task or one they've forgotten. They don't have to leave their desks, stop what they're doing, interrupt someone else, or call a Help Desk. All this adds up to a shorter rollout, more productive employees, and a faster, bigger return on the company's software investment.

You reach a Mentor with one click of a bookmark or icon, tell it what you want to know, then view the talking presentation or demonstration. You can even toggle between Mentor and the subject system, so Mentor can lead you through the task in real time. No longer do you need to remember the details of a system's tasks. Mentor remembers them for you.
